This tester was developed to allow Dr. Norimune Soda to use it for basic studies on oiliness and use the damped oscillation of the pendulum in a boundary oil film state, thus elucidating the oiliness of various lubricants. This enables determination of the friction coefficient, which forms the basis for oiliness comparison.
